It's Hard Leaving the Big Easy

New Orleans, LA
Since we have an afternoon flight, we decide to walk a few miles around the French Quarter in the morning. We started with a breakfast that included zero beignets. I think the last ones we ate were still sitting in our stomachs.
We wandered up to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve on Decatur Street which is one of six sites for the park scattered across southern Louisiana. This one had a small visitor center talking about the local history and various ranger talks primarily about jazz or the settlement of the area. We poked around but didn't stay.
We wandered past the French Market (no one felt like shopping) and up to the Mint, which is now a Jazz museum that wasn't open yet. We walked through more of the residential area, and listened to a few good bands on our way back to the hotel and off to the airport. The flight home was again pleasantly uneventful.
Being a typical vacation for us, we walked about 30 miles in the four days. It's one way to see a chunk of the city.
