The Return Trip

NH
Today we visited the Garnet Hill headquarters/outlet (which is right in Franconia) because Val gets catalogs from them and wanted to see what they had in their store. Why did we go today? Because it's Thursday. Many things in New Hampshire don't open until Thursday. I don't know how many days they are open, but I can say that it is not Tuesday or Wednesday. We noticed this with things ranging from the bike rental next to the inn to some of the restaurants to the outlet. At any rate, the prices at the outlet were still a bit steep but the browsing was within our budget.
On the way home, traffic was heavy in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey with stop-and-go sections in each. Only once did we find out why we were stopping. We chose to go across the Tappan Zee bridge, which has been renamed to the Governor Cuomo bridge. (I have to admit that the former is a lot more fun to say.) Regardless of what you call it, a crash at the far end had half the lanes closed and we got to spend quite a bit of time on the bridge. It was still probably better than the George Washington bridge.
Next time I will try coming through Albany maybe, or head to Rhode Island or someplace maybe 4-6 hours from home in the morning and then start through the traffic snarl after 6:00 when it's getting lighter rather than heavier.
